” A lesbian couple who led the fight for gay marriage in Massachusetts have filed for divorce.

Julie and Hillary Goodridge were among seven gay couples who filed a lawsuit that led to a court ruling making Massachusetts the first state to legalize same-sex marriages in 2004. The couple became the public face of the debate in the state and married the first day same-sex marriages became legal.

The divorce case was filed last week in Suffolk Probate and Family Court and was not unexpected. The couple announced they were separating in 2006.

Messages left for the Goodridges were not immediately returned Tuesday. “

My opinion from the get-go in the whole gay-marriage issue has been “let them marry, they have a right to be as miserable as everyone else”, so I’m not even going to pretend I’m surprised about this.  I am disappointed, however. It seems if you’re a pioneer couple in a matter like this, you would at least fake the continuation of your marriage and just bone other women or something, if only to keep supporting the cause you fought for.  This is like if Susan B. Anthony fighting for women’s suffrage just so she could have the ability to vote against women’s suffrage.

Seriously… in real fucking life. Via the Miami Herald:

“With nine people wounded, two fatally, police called it one of the largest mass shootings in Miami history.

But the weekend blood bath in Liberty City — triggered by a mystery gunman who unleashed a hail of bullets on a street dice game — underscored the same themes woven through much of Miami’s urban violence, big or small.

Detectives received conflicting witness accounts of the shooting, including the presence of a second shooter. Robbery is one theory. Police believe at least two guns were used.

But on Saturday, they had no firm suspect description, little cooperation from witnesses and no tips from the public.

”I was taken aback by the fact that so many people got shot and not one person has come forward to say anything,” said Miami homicide Lt. John Buhrmaster.”

You can’t make this shit up, folks.  The police can’t find the guy and no one’s speaking up.  This just goes to show, if you’re going to commit a crime, do everything like a video game, and, just like in video games, there will be no real world consequences…true story.
