BlurryPeople is a randomizing video-chat site similar to ChatRoulette except the video feed starts out blurry, so the focus is on the conversation. The image sharpens over time if the conversation continues, so you’re forced to try to get to know the person before you can judge them on their appearance. It also features a rating system to help filter out blurry dudes yanking their chain on camera. From Metafilter:
To increase the likelihood of a good match the next time, you are able to rate your chat partner with tags like “too grumpy”, “too ugly”, and “too dumb”. This way, the worst people are filtered away, and the mechanisms to game are gone, leaving you to form relationships with other people under less superficial circumstances.
Or as the guys behind Blurry People say it: strangers you might actually like.
Pretty cool. There’s a 90-second preview video over at Blurry People.
