The Rub: History Of Hip-Hop 2000-2009

by Endswell 1 year, 4 months ago View Comments

The Rub (DJ Ayres, DJ Eleven & Cosmo Baker) is known for taking the best hip-hop tracks for each year (going back to 1979) and mixing them into mixtapes for your enjoyment/education.  I’ve heard their mixes for 1991-1999 and they were all great.  After a brief hiatus, they got caught up this summer and put together mixes for 2000-2009.  Tracklists, streams, and downloads are all here.

Eric Fischer: Racial Cartography

by Endswell 1 year, 4 months ago View Comments

Inspired by Bill Rankin’s Taxonomy of Transitions (a color coded map showing occupants by race using block-specific US Census data), Eric Fischer applied the technique to forty major U.S. cities.  The data is presented in the same way: “Red is White, Blue is Black, Green is Asian, and Orange is Hispanic, and each dot is 25 people.”  I’ve included a few.  Click to enlarge.

Salesman Pete & The Amazing Stone

by Endswell 1 year, 4 months ago View Comments

From Marc Bouyer, Max Loubaresse, and Anthony Vivien:

Pete is a nice and clumsy salesman. But he’s also a deadly super secret agent with a microprocessor implanted into his brain by some mad scientists from the governement. He has to secretly stop a bunch of bad guys who stole a magic stone that can change anything into seafood.

Bahnhof ISP: Wikileaks’ New Home

by Endswell 1 year, 4 months ago View Comments

Under 30 meters of rock mountain, in a nuclear bomb shelter built during the Cold War, Bahnhof ISP (arguably one of Sweden’s largest and most notorious ISP’s) will serve as the new host for Wikileaks‘ servers of classified materials.  Panoramic photographer Jann Lipka got some great 360 degree shots of the amazing facility.  A video tour is below.
