YouTube: The Top 5 Viral Moving Pictures Of 1911

For April Fool’s Day, if you’re viewing a video on YouTube, you can click on the 1911 button to make the video look like an old timey moving picture.  As an added bonus, they’ve reworked a few of the viral hits from that time, such as the “The Irksome Citrus“, “Buggy Intruder“, and “Flugelhorn Feline“.

Deb Roy: The Birth Of A Word

MIT researcher and Bluefin Labs CEO Deb Roy wired video cameras throughout his house and collected 90,000 hours of video of his infant son over 3 years.  Him and his team then analyzed this data in the hopes of discovering how his son learned language.  In one part of the talk, he plays a time-lapsed audio file of his son slowly turning “gaga” into “water”. The different ways they’ve been able to interpret the data and map word development through social interactions is pretty amazing.
