Sun Website Hacked By LulzSec[Guardian]

News International websites for the Times and the Sun were taken down last night after hackers targeted the Sun’s web pages and redirected traffic to another page falsely reporting that Rupert Murdoch had been found dead.

The LulzSec hacking collective hacked the tabloid’s site, and also claimed to be “sitting on their [the Sun's] emails” and that they would release the emails on Tuesday. They tweeted what they claimed was Rebekah Brooks’s email address, and said they knew her password combination.

LulzSec Claims To Have Obtained Trove Of News Corp E-mails - [Raw Story]

Online hacking group LulzSec said Monday night it had obtained a large cache of emails from the servers of News International, the News Corp. subsidiary which oversees global media baron Rupert Murdoch’s British newspapers.

Along with the emails, LulzSec said it had unearthed the email logins and passwords for News International executives, including former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks, who was arrested recently in connection to the paper’s phone hacking schemes.

FBI Raids Home Of Three Suspected Anonymous Members[The Next Web]

The FBI executed three search warrants to search the homes of three suspected members of online collective Anonymous early on Tuesday morning, as part of acrackdown on attacks on Mastercard, Visa and PayPal, Fox News reports.

According to reports, 10 FBI agents swooped on three New York residences with search warrants for computers and computer-related accessories, physically removing a laptop from one member’s house in Baldwin early on Tuesday morning.

Texas Man Uses Little-Known Law To Acquire $300,000 House For $16[Consumerist] (via)

Kenneth Robinson’s new neighbors say he’s a squatter, but he says he is just using the law to his advantage. After the previous owners walked away from the house when it was in foreclosure, the mortgage company went out of business. So Robinson moved in after researching “adverse possession,” a little-known Texas law.

He printed out an online form and filed it at Denton County courthouse for $16 and was granted rights to the house. The home has no electricity or running water, but Robinson just set up camp anyway. The law says he gets exclusive negotiating rights with the original owner. If they want him out, they have to pay off the mortgage debt and the bank would have to file a lawsuit.

Google’s Marissa Mayer On The Day She “Broke” The Internet[Newsweek]

It was my job to oversee everything that had to do with Google search: what users saw on the homepage, and all the code written behind it, right down to the very last character. But we accidentally introduced a stray “/”—a slash—on our servers. It was the slash heard round the world. Suddenly, every page on the Internet was popping up with a big red warning: THIS SITE MAY HARM YOUR COMPUTER. You couldn’t access anything on Google. It was as if the Internet was broken.
