Sandusky’s Awkward, Creepy Interview With Bob Costas – [Deadspin]

The interview is as uncomfortable and surreal as we could have imagined, especially since Sandusky’s lawyer, Joe Amendola not only agreed to the arrangement, but also sat down with Costas for the talk.

Sandusky, when asked if he was a pedophile, told Costas “no.” When asked if he was sexually attracted to young boys, he paused for a moment and then responded:

Am I sexually attracted to underage boys? Sexually attracted? You know, I enjoy young people. I, I love to be around them. I, I… But no, I’m not sexually attracted to young boys.

It took him, as Zach Klein of WSB-TV noted, “16.3 seconds” to say “no.”

NBC Benches Community, Britta’d Up Their Whole Schedule – [Uproxx]

Community, an awesome show that should be getting six seasons and a movie, is instead being pulled from NBC’s midseason lineup. New episodes of 30 Rock will air in its time slot and Up All Night will take 30 Rock‘s old time slot. Meanwhile, they also ordered more episodes of Whitney and of a Chelsea Handler sitcom.

Sources told THR that Community “will return to the schedule at a date to be determined.” Meanwhile, Brian Stelter of the New York Times tweeted that “its chances of being renewed next year are painfully low.” The inevitable but likely futile petition has already been started.

6 Happy Endings That Accidentally Screwed The Movie’s Hero - [Cracked]

Occupy Movement News Update of the Day – [The Daily What]

How Members of Congress Get Rich Through Insider Trading…Sorry…”Honest Graft” – [Atlantic Wire]

A 60 Minutes report on Sunday examined the ways that members of Congress trade on inside, privileged information to make themselves rich — without breaking any laws. Even though many positions in the federal government are bound by conflict of interest laws, Congresspeople are exempt from insider trading rules and are perfectly free to make business deals based on information they learn through their jobs.

At Google X, A Top Secret Lab Dreaming Up The Future – [NY Times]

In a top-secret lab in an undisclosed Bay Area location where robots run free, the future is being imagined.

It’s a place where your refrigerator could be connected to the Internet, so it could order groceries when they ran low. Your dinner plate could post to a social network what you’re eating. Your robot could go to the office while you stay home in your pajamas. And you could, perhaps, take an elevator to outer space.

These are just a few of the dreams being chased at Google X, the clandestine lab where Google is tackling a list of 100 shoot-for-the-stars ideas. In interviews, a dozen people discussed the list; some work at the lab or elsewhere at Google, and some have been briefed on the project. But none would speak for attribution because Google is so secretive about the effort that many employees do not even know the lab exists.

Warren Buffett Becomes IBM’s Biggest Shareholder[All Things D]

Warren Buffett, the legendary investor and head of Berkshire Hathaway, just said on CNBC that he has spent $10.7 billion to buy about 64 million shares — about 5.5 percent — of equity in computing giant IBM.

Buffett made the disclosure in an interview, which at this moment is still underway, on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” Why IBM? “They treat their stock with reverence,” which he says is unusual.
