Conner and Cayden Long: 2012 SportsKids of the Year

by 1 year, 8 months ago Contribute

The Sports Illustrated Kids 2012 SportsKids of the Year are nine year old Conner Long and his seven year old brother Cayden, who was diagnosed with hypertonic cerebral palsy at four months old. Despite Cayden’s condition, the pair have competed in 14 triathlons since 2011.

A year and a half ago, he and Cayden started participating in triathlons together. Conner swims while pulling Cayden in a raft, bikes with his little brother towed behind him in a trailer, and pushes that trailer when they run. Over the past 18 months, the pair from White House, Tennessee, traveled up and down the East coast to compete in races. Seeing the brothers working together has inspired onlookers, while bringing Conner and Cayden closer than ever. Their amazing determination and spirit is why the Long brothers are the 2012 Sports Illustrated Kids SportsKids of the Year.

Come for the circus of maniacal dancing and limb waving, stay for moment at the :50 mark when you can actually see the kid in the Old Navy hoodie deciding drugs are bad…then for the guy who looks like his beard is continuously feeding him all of the drugs that kid will never take. This video’s got it all.

Feed Our Bahia Honda Children

by 1 year, 11 months ago Contribute

My buddy Neil has been working his ass off on his non-profit organization, Give and Surf, and has been working with the children of Bahia Honda for the past couple of years. White catching up the other day, he told me that the government-provided food supplies for the children are gone, so they are raising money to keep food in the kids’ mouths.

We are asking for your help. Please contribute to providing our students with food so they can learn and enjoy school and their lives with full bellies. We need to pool together our resources and purchase food that will provide thirty students food. We have the cooks, equipment, and a brand new cafeteria, but not the food.

The children of Bahia Honda have very poor diets so we will be using this fundraiser to purchase and cook healthy food. With a successful fundraiser this misfortune will be a blessing.

Take a second to help us and support our community by sharing this message with your friends and family.

If you can’t donate, please spread the word any way you can.

Thanks.

“Shortest Attention Span EVER!” Video Is Aptly Named

by 1 year, 11 months ago Contribute

Redditor Tunnel_Estate runs through the highlights:

The casual backhanded drop as the kid walks away. The boink noise of it resonating as it hits the ground. The ball swooshing behind him and gravity instantly taking it down. … and finally the look of disconsolate wtf from the [brother-in-law] as he resigns himself to the cameraman.
