High Definite/Shit I’ll Endorse For Free

Archer On FX Tonight

by Endswell 1 year, 11 months ago View Comments

Now that everyone can stop pretending they actually gave a shit about the Winter Olympics (no, you didn’t), we can finally watch some decent television on Thursdays again.

Archer: FX, Thursdays at 10pm.  Don’t sleep.

Antengo: Mobile Microlistings

by Endswell 1 year, 11 months ago View Comments

I get a good bit of e-mails from people informing me of new websites, products, videos, etc. and most of the time I either throw them in the link dump or pass, but every once in a while I get one that deserves a full post, and this one definitely fits the bill.  These clever bastards over at Antengo have created a potential game-changer.

Picture, if you will, an iPhone app that blends the listings of Craigslist (simplified into 140 character postings), GPS coordination (so you can see the listing in relation to your location), and a built in chat to negotiate the sale that will save you from the awkward “is this still available” e-mails usually associated with Craigslist postings.  From their press release:

In less than sixty seconds, someone can create and publish a listing within Antengo and push it out to folks looking for stuff in their city, neighborhood, or even on their block.  Listings are constrained to 140 characters and are automatically tagged with location data from the user’s handheld.

Using the location-awareness native within their mobile device, potential buyers can search the Antengo marketplace and find what they’re looking for, where they are.  This could be a concert ticket on location at a music festival or a free sofa in need of a home right down the block.

Taking advantage of the Twitter platform, Antengo enables its user-to-user communication to be instantaneous, efficient, and consistent with the emerging “tweet” communication standard.  An in-app chat service uses direct messaging on Twitter, called “Antweet” or “Antweeting,” serves as the backbone of Antengo communications, and seamlessly integrates the Anttenna app into the burgeoning Twitter-enabled ecosystem.

Oh yeah…and it’s FREE.  Boom.

Antengo.

(The app is currently running a pilot market in San Diego, but it is available for download everywhere, with a national roll-out soon to come)

Thanks to Hunter, who I’m certain is Zach Galifianakis’s long lost son, for the tip

Archer Gets Second Season, I Get Aroused

by Endswell 1 year, 11 months ago View Comments

Television is terrible lately.  Terrible.  Between these pseudo-reality shows following individuals that aren’t capable of handling small life problems, fucktards competing on some of the most asinine game shows ever created, the rapid decline of former favorites (ahem, The Office, 24) and a whole slew of horrible new sitcoms that are mere illusions of what quality programming should be, it’s gotten to the point where I want to physically harm my television.

Amongst this digital fecal matter being touted as new programs, Archer has risen to the challenge of providing us with a sharp, well-written, entertaining comedy with one of the best casts in the business.  I know I’ve been on the Archer wang all season, and the amount I’ve talked about it on here and to my friends every time I’m drunk and television comes up is reaching a dangerously annoying level.  Regardless, I shall proceed.   From Warming Glow:

“Executive Producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson are delivering a hilarious series and it truly earned a second season,” said Grad. “H. Jon Benjamin, Aisha Tyler, Jessica Walter, Chris Parnell and Judy Greer comprise one of the best voice casts of any animated series on TV. We’re very happy with the audience response and critical acclaim for Archer and are excited to move forward with it.”

“We are incredibly excited about the opportunity to make a second season of Archer,” said Reed, “and grateful that FX has enough faith in the show to allow it to build an audience. Excelsior!”

In what I’m assuming is a celebration, FX is running a 4-episode half-marathon on Thursday night.  I’ve put the promo video at the top.  Get familiar.

NBC’s Thursday night lineup holds it down pretty hard, but this shit makes the night for me.

Also, Sterling Archer is on Twitter.

Archer, Thursdays at 10PM on FX.

Archer Tonight…Seriously.

I”m going to promote it here every week unless the show takes a sudden, mid-season dive (which is highly unlikely because it’s the shit and fucking hilarious) or until I get too lazy or forget (which is ridiculously likely).

Archer – Tonight @ 10pm on FX.

San Fran & NYC Readers: StreetWars Sign-Ups Have Started

by Endswell 2 years, 0 months ago View Comments

The 3 week long, city-wide, 24/7 water gun assassination game has started sign-ups for the San Francisco and New York games.  The basics of the event, from the StreetWars website:

At the start of the game you will receive a manila envelope containing the following:

  • A picture of your intended target(s)
  • The home address of your intended target(s)
  • The work address of your intended target(s)
  • The name of your intended target(s)
  • Contact information of your intended target(s)

Upon receipt of these items, your (or your team’s) mission is to find and kill (by way of water gun, water balloon or super soaker) your target(s).

You can hunt your target down any way you see fit; you can pose as a delivery person and jack them when they open the door, disguise yourself and take them out on the street, etc.

If you are successful in your assassination attempt, the person you killed will give you their envelope and the person they were supposed to kill becomes your new target. This continues until you work yourself through all the players and retrieve the envelope with your (or your team’s) picture(s) and name(s). Then you win. Cash…but first live in fear.

If you live in NYC or San Francisco you better not waste the opportunity to get involved in this ridiculously awesome event.

Sign up and live in fear…lucky bastards…it’ll be $45 regardless of your location.

NYC (July 12th, 2010 – August 10th 2010) Sign Up | Deadline: March 27, 3:03pm

San Francisco (April 5th, 2010 – May 2nd 2010) Sign Up | Deadline: July 03, 12:07pm.

Watch Archer On FX Tonight

I watched the first two episodes of Archer last week (you can watch them here), and it’s honestly one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a while.  My penchant for spy novels, cursing, and low-brow humor probably make me a biased reviewer, but this show is definitely worth checking out.

Archer : Thursdays at 10 PM on FX.

A better written review here.
